Mudlogging Equipment

Most mudlogging equipment at work in the field today is hopelessly obsolete. Although most mudlogging services patch their old equipment into data acquisition software, the results are less than spectacular. Jerry-rigging the ancient equipment to acquisition software gives these companies the right to call their equipment "computerized," but it doesn't prevent that equipment from constantly breaking down.

For most mudloggers, repairing broken equipment is one of the most important facets of the job. Although taking samples and analyzing data are supposed to be their primary tasks, many mudloggers find that their real job consists mostly of patching up failing equipment.

Camco Logging Service owner Mike Cunningham, Jr. has been a mudlogger nearly all his life. Mike grew up around the business, the son of a mudlogger father. When Mike opened Camco for business in 1998, he vowed to develop a state-of-the-art mudlogging equipment system that would be efficient, accurate, and best of all, reliable.

Through five years of diligent effort, we developed a proprietary system known as the Geospect Instrument. We've been using the Geospect in the field with great success for many years. Just look at a photograph of our instrument system and compare it to a photograph of a typical mudlogging system. The contrast is instantly apparent. The older, inefficient system is made up of half a dozen different instruments, most of which were manufactured more than 30 years ago. The Geospect Instrument, on the other hand, is sleek, compact and efficient.
